Adventure Race is back! This time it’s bigger and better with #feeltheadrenaline as its tagline. The
race consists of 4 separate legs spanning out to 2 weekends. It was truly an amazing
adventure that took participants from the city of Kuala Lumpur to the beach of
Port Dickson; from the hills of Broga to the finishing line at One City Mall.
The event received its inspiration from the
TV reality show – The Amazing Race where contestants travel from one location
to another while completing various tasks. This time the event incorporated
another element from another TV reality show – Fear Factor.
First Leg
The first leg started with 20 teams of 3 flagging off at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. Everyone arrived early and was excited for what’s in store for them throughout the day.
The first station was a fear challenge where teams had to search for codes in 2 buckets full of worms in order to free their member before proceeding to the next challenge. It was tough at first to brace the worms with their bare hands but they manage to it.
Participants then travelled to Batu Caves
where 3 separate challenges await them. Counting numerous steps of the stairs
is must at this iconic location. However, they were ask to also carry 5kg of
soil up and down as they count.
Soaking in the Malaysian food culture, the
following two challenges required them to eat and perform their way through. Participants
were given a serving of “special” Roti Canai, a local food dipped with Indian curry,
which they need to finish in order to receive their next clue. Another
challenge was to perform correctly Teh Tarik, Malaysian “pulled” milk tea, to
receive their next clue.
Next, participants arrived at KL Central.
They are required to obtain currencies of different countries to complete this
challenge.

traveled to Petaling Street, also one of Malaysia famous tourist attraction
with countless locals and tourist browsing through the street’s bargained
goods. Participants are required to locate one of our crew member's dressed
in normal attire within the crowd to receive their next clue.
After that, participants traveled back to T-Rex
Muay Thai, Sunway Pyramid at Bandar Sunway where they are face with a detour. They
must complete either set of MMA routine within a given time or learn a form of Taekwondo
formation.
Lastly, they must travel back to Taylor’s
University to check into the Pit Stop. The first team to arrive at the Pit Stop
was CMac.
Second Leg
After an incredible day around Kuala Lumpur, the participants were even excited for what's in-store was for them
in the second leg of the race at Port Dickson.
Participants travelled down to Port Dickson
together by bus before flagging off.
The first task was called “Symbiosis” where
the challenge was to complete a series of physical obstacles at the beach. This
included the banana challenge, the gunny sack race, the army crawl and the
caterpillar walk.
Next, participants need to build a boat in
order to sail to the middle of the sea to collect their next clue. They were only given a few cardboard boxes, a
pen-knife, a cello tape and a role of cling wrap.
After a morning of good workout,
participants were greeted with their lunch and another challenge. They were
required to eat a cup of fired crickets to receive their next clue. Most of participants
enjoyed the crickets and thought that it tasted like delicious anchovies.
Hoping that they paid attention in class
during their school days, a history challenge was set to test their knowledge
at the Port Dickson Army Musuem, which houses a collection of historical
military artefacts.
With a bit of military knowledge, they were
faced with the next challenge which was a boot camp where they needed to
complete a set a gruelling exercise under the hot sun.
Before proceeding to the Pit Stop of leg,
they were face with a roadblock where they need to search a clue under more 400
hundred sand castles. For each sand castle they destroy, they need to mold it
back. This challenge was an inspiration from The Amazing Race.
