Treasure Hunt - April Intake

A number of students have been asking around on how to join the club. A handful had even messaged the club personally, asking to join. Although we have no intention of a recruitment, but we decided to have an “invite-only recruitment drive”, making this a very special event.

An events' planning will not start without OCP; Organising Chair Person. The OCP will be responsible to make planning, and oversee the whole entire process of the hunt, making sure everything works smoothly and implements all the attributes that represents Sky Adventure Club. So, for this Hunt, we have selected Ninja and Hybrid to be the OCP, the dynamic duo that will make sure to give out their mightiest best to deliver the best hunt ever.
- They Will Pulverize You~

                            - Applicants and the three "spies". Can you point them out?

As usual, applicants will be put on a trial run, which we fondly name, Treasure Hunt. The purpose of a Treasure Hunt remains the same; as a mean for us to evaluate the applicants strengths and weaknesses which therefore will determine their eligibility to join the Sky Adventure Club.

                                                        - Registration by applicants.

Due to the very short time lease that we have, the trial was held on Saturday, 27th April 2013 in campus ground, after only 2 weeks of preparations and planning. SAC members gathered at campus as early as 10am for final preparations and briefing. At exactly 1.30pm, the hunt started after registration of the hunt’s participants and dividing into teams.

                                              - Warm-Up session, conducted by Oyster.

 - The real "problematic" person.

However, this hunt has a special secret installed. In every team, one SAC member will be disguising as an applicant and will join in on the hunt, and their job is to slow down their team, simply by being chaotic, trouble making and problematic. However, aside from being problematic and chaotic, their job is also to observe their team members.

The hunts course are as follow :

Station
Station Masters
Helium stick
Cotton
Tarzan’s leg
Tarzan, Kina
Newspaper
Merlion, Chigga
Backup: Clumsy
Fitness
Aladdin, Oyster

 - Disguised "Cotton" as normal student.
- Helium Stick Challenge

"Failing to Plan, is Planning to Fail". All stations were designed to test all the applicants of their strength and weaknesses. For example, the Helium Stick Station were set to test applicants of their leadership and also teamwork skills, where they have to first locate a member of SAC and then proceed to the next task; lowering a long straw to the ground using their fingers.
 - THE LEG! What do you think??

- PEACE!

 - Tarzan's Leg Spin-Around-BlindFold ( Taboo and Beetle "helped" )

- Herman was feeling a little bit lost.

Tarzan’s leg will test applicants on their observation skill and also attentiveness. They were given a picture, showing only the leg of Tarzan, a SAC member and applicants will have to find him, guided only by the picture. After locating Tarzan, they will be put on a blindfold, and be spread among themselves, which then they have to group back together according to their original position.
- Newspaper Challenge ( Don's Team )

 - Newspaper Challenge ( Sino's Team )

                                              - Newspaper Challenge ( Pochi's Team )
 - Running around the lake~
Newspaper task will test applicants of their strength, teamwork and also determination. They will first will have to fit all member in their group on a piece a sheet of newspaper, with the rules of having only 2 feets, 2 hands, and 1 elbow touching the newspaper. After that, they will be required to run around the lake, and to notice certain members of SAC and their special “attire”, which consists of a bandana, a beanie, and also gloves. However, simply by addressing the attire does not suffice, as they must also notice the special traits of the mentioned attires. The power of observation plays a great part here.

 - Even Pokemon join in the fun; running around.
Last but not least, the legendary Fitness Test, upon reaching the last station. Conducted by Aladdin and Oyster; this last test is to test applicants of their strength. They will be asked to do a series of workout course for a certain time. Workouts include high planking, low planking, push-ups etc.

There were only 3 teams, by far the smallest team number in the history of SAC Treasure Hunt. However, less is more. Each team members get to contribute more, and can be easily assessed by the club. This made evaluation of team way easier and more effective.

After the hunt is completed, everybody gathered at Class E4.10 for a speech by Hydro, and also Ninja; explaining to everyone the motive of the hunt. Another surprise to all the recruitees are when they found out that there was spy within their group, blending in with them.

With a promise of an email, the group dispersed and it is time for the members of SAC to have a post-mortem about the hunt and also determine who will be invited to join the club, and undergo the next step, the interview.

Till then, the journey continues…

Regards,
Pochi.
