From 13th to 15th January 2012 we had our own SAC Retreat to the Adeline's Rest House in Perak. It was supposed to be an orientation camp for the new members to bond with the current members however most of the new members are undergoing their internship. Nevertheless, the trip still went on.
13th January 2012
We gathered around 5pm for early dinner at the Old Town White Coffee in Taylor’s University Lakeside. We departed to our destination at 7pm. Mok Tek Shern (aka Kuali), the Organising Chairperson, invited 2 alumni to join our trip. They were Maggi & Kutu.
Once we reached Adeline's Rest House, we settled down and gathered for small briefing. Kuali came up with a game known as Guardian Angel. It is a game where members are given a name of the other member so that they could secretly take care of the people that they have picked. After that, we set up our own tent. Some of us were given duties at night (Night watch) and were paired in group of two to keep an eye in case if anything happen.
14th January 2012
Rise and shine! Skinny conducted light exercise after breakfast. The exercises includes carrying unused car tyres, which were quite heavy!
After the exercise, we get ourselves ready for some adventurous activities. We went to Gua Tempurung. It was quite a distance away from our campsite and we traveled there through a vehicle where all of us are required to stand at the back. I believe that every single one of us enjoyed the ride as it was windy, bumpy and exciting nevertheless.
After visiting the cave, we were all starving! Leo’s team prepared lunch for us that day. We chilled a bit after lunch before heading for jungle trekking in the afternoon. The jungle trekking activity wasn’t awesome at all because there were a lot of leeches! Yuck!! Many of us ended up ‘donating’ blood to those tiny creatures.
Holding hands in a queue, we crossed a river during the jungle trekking. The stream was quite strong but thankfully the river was only knee-height deep. We managed to cross the river without getting wet except for our club advisor, The Rock, who accidentally fell into the water. She was soaking wet after that but unharmed.
We got back to the rest house and washed up before dinner. The barbeque dinner was prepared by Knife’s team.
15th January 2012
It was raining quite heavily the next morning. The body rafting activity was canceled but Blue came out with a tagline guessing game just to kill time. After that, we headed to the area near BBQ pit for some briefing regarding our club. The advisor gave a short talk on background and structure of the Taylor’s University Lakeside Sky Adventure Club.
We then prepared a farewell banner for our SAC Club Advisor, The Rock – for her retirement from the club. We will surely miss her!
Just before lunch time, the names of the Guardian Angels were revealed to all of the participants. Twilight’s team prepared lunch for us that afternoon before we headed home.
